Listen as docents Kerry Jacobs, Janelle Montgomery, and Bryon Adinoff converse over two works in the permanent collection: Donald Judd’s Untitled, 1967 and Martin Puryear’s Ladder for Booker T. Washington, 1996.
These sculptures are installed in adjacent galleries on the first floor of the Modern, inviting viewers to compare and contrast them in a variety of ways. The docents discuss the visual elements, material components, working processes, artists’ intentions, viewers’ responses, and their own individual efforts to understand these works.
Please add to the conversation by posting your thoughts, responses, or stories from the galleries. We look forward to continuing the discussion.
