First Sunday of each month, 2–3:30 pm
The Graduate Student Lectureship Program provides local art and art history graduate students the opportunity to research and present public lectures on works on view at the Modern. These focused gallery talks discuss artworks within a thematic framework designed to provide new insights on familiar pieces, special exhibitions, and new acquisitions. After close observation, rigorous research, and original analysis, students each design an interactive tour that fosters discussion with visitors in the galleries.
Members of the Directors Council will enjoy a cocktail reception and preview of the FOCUS: KAWS exhibition with the artist.
Reception will begin at 6 pm and remarks will be at 7 pm.
This event is exclusive to members of the Director's Council. For more information about joining, click here.
Friday 6 and 8:30 pm; Saturday 5 pm; Sunday 11:30 am, 2 pm, and 4:30 pm
A new take on a classic theme, this class will explore drawing in relation to the Modern’s exhibitions for the spring 2012 season. Drawing is cornerstone foundation for most artists. Whether a sketch, a notation, or a refined mark in a journal, all artists use drawing in various ways to work through ideas. This class explores drawing through the FOCUS exhibitions featuring KAWS, Katie Paterson, Ged Quinn, and the special exhibition, Glenn Ligon: AMERICA. The Big Drawing Class spans 13 weeks, with three different artists leading classes over the course of the semester.
