Sundays with the Modern offers unique perspectives on special exhibitions, with artists, curators, art historians, and writers holding conversations in the galleries. This program is free and begins at 1 pm on the first Sunday of selected months. In conjunction with México Inside Out: Themes in Art Since 1990, these special gallery talks feature artists included in the exhibition.

Wonderful Wednesdays is a program for families with young children led by a docent. A gallery project designed by the education department is included. The tour and project focus on a few works in the collection. Registration is not required, but a sign-up sheet is provided at the front desk the day of the program. Attendance is limited; admission is free.

The Graduate Student Lectureship Program provides local art and art history graduate students the opportunity to research and present public lectures on works on view at the Modern. These focused gallery talks discuss artworks within a thematic framework designed to provide new insights on familiar pieces, special exhibitions, and new acquisitions.

Reception will begin at 6 pm and remarks will be at 7 pm.

Gallery Program

Join us and become acquainted with the Modern’s collection while developing drawing skills by looking and learning with local artists as they lead informal, basic drawing classes in the galleries. Open to adults at all skill levels. Bring a sketchbook and pencils or purchase materials from The Modern Shop. This class is free. Registration is not required, but participants should sign in at the front desk.

The Modern Graduate Series aims to foster and sustain a vibrant, creative dialogue among fine arts and art history graduate students from across the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. The series is a succession of quarterly meetings where area graduate students can experience the Modern’s special exhibitions and attend lectures by visiting artists, scholars, and art professionals from across the state. Prior to each lecture, graduate students will enjoy complimentary access to the galleries.
