“This powerful Hungarian drama features the Al Pacino of dog actors.” Cath Clarke, Time Out London. All the unwanted, unloved, and so-called “unfit” dogs rise up under a new leader, Hagen, the one-time house pet who has learned all too well from his “masters” in his journey through the streets and animal control centers how to bite the hands that beat him. (C) Sony Classics

Sounds Modern presents Framing Desire in Music, a concert of recent works in which composers express their longing, sentimental and magical, for an unattainable and distant reality. The program includes works that celebrate particular people and places – and especially beloved pieces of music that composers refer to (even incorporate), reframing them much as photographs and video reframe and reinforce elements of the visual world. These musical acts of sympathetic magic provide a sonic dimension to the Modern’s exhibition Framing Desire.

The aim of the Slow Art movement is to break with the often frenetic pace of modern life to simply enjoy works of art in a deliberate and unhurried fashion. Slow Art at the Modern invests in this pause with a 30-minute spotlight tour focusing on one work of art. Led by a Modern docent the third Friday of each month, Slow Art at the Modern begins at 5:30 pm.
