Magnolia at the Modern is an ongoing series featuring critically acclaimed films. Regular show times are Friday at 6 and 8 pm, Saturday at 5 pm, and Sunday at noon, 2 and 4 pm (exceptions are noted). Tickets are $9; $7 for Modern members. The Sunday noon show time is half price. Advance sales begin two hours prior to each show.

Now in her early sixties, a former beauty queen (Catherine Deneuve) finds herself jilted by her lover and left alone to deal with the financial problems facing her family's restaurant. What begins as a quick drive to clear her head turns into a full-fledged road trip, and along the way there are chance meetings, an ex-Miss France gala, renewed ties with her estranged daughter and grandson, and possibly, at the end of the road, love.

Jodorowsky's Dune

Frank Pavich's documentary explores cult film director Alejandro Jodorowsky's attempt to create a big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert's seminal science fiction novel Dune. While the ambitious production collapsed after two years, Jodorowsky's team of then-relatively-unknown concept artists continued exploring the themes and styles started on the project and changed modern science fiction forever.
