Dr. Marla Price, director of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, announces a benefit auction of de-accessioned works on Sunday, January 24 from 4:30 to 7 pm to be held at the museum. A preview of works will be held Saturday, January 23 from 10 am to 5 pm.

 

The benefit auction includes a variety of art and artifacts from the Modern's past, such as works on paper, paintings, and sculpture. During the long history of the museum, beginning in 1892, many art objects have been acquired that do not currently fulfill our mission of presenting post World War II, modern and contemporary art, as determined through extensive review by curatorial staff and with approval by the Board of Directors. Over 200 works will be offered for auction. Estimates for artworks range from $150 to $5,000. Proceeds from the sale of items will benefit the Modern's acquisitions fund for future artwork purchases.
