FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
No Woman No Cry
Presented by the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, YWCA of Fort Worth and
Tarrant County, Women’s Policy Forum, and CARE Action Network
for more than half a million women a year
pregnancy is a death sentence
In her gripping directorial debut, Christy Turlington Burns shares the powerful stories of at-risk pregnant women in four parts of the world, including a remote Maasai tribe in Tanzania, a slum of Bangladesh, a post-abortion care ward in Guatemala, and a prenatal clinic in the United States.
“Every day, approximately 1000 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. 99% of all maternal deaths occur in developing countries. Join us as Christy Turlington Burns takes us into the reality of a world we may never see first-hand through her film. Our experts will then lead us in dynamic conversation about solutions and actions that will radically decrease the risk of all women in the developing world who put one foot in their grave the moment they become pregnant.” Karen Kelly, District Chair TX12, Care Action Network.
