Tango! Special First Friday at the Modern
September 2
Cocktails. Music. Art. Dining.
The first Friday of each month, the Star-Telegram, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and Café Modern team up to bring you live music and cocktails from 5 to 8 pm. Bring your friends to enjoy diverse live performances, cocktail selections, and the opportunity to dine in Café Modern by night. A docent-led, twenty-minute tour of the galleries is available at 6:30 pm. The tour is free for Modern members and Star-Telegram Press Pass Holders.
September 2 (Extended hours: Cocktail service begins at 5 pm; music from 6–9 pm.)
Tango at the Modern featuring MonTango
Join us for a Milonga (dance party!) at the Modern. Tango the night away to the sounds of Argentina, with music by Tom Reynolds, guitar; Shields-Collins “Buddy” Bray, piano; Paul Unger, bass; Etan Torgel, violin; and Tom Montgomery, bandoneón.
MonTango will dazzle you with traditional tango favorites as well the thrilling nuevo tango music of Astor Piazolla.
Café Modern will feature a special Argentine prix fixe dinner option complete with the best of Argentine wines. Special cocktail of the evening, Too Too Tango.
Special thanks to Arts Fifth Avenue, “Tango on the Avenue” and Tango Argentina of Fort Worth
Café Modern is now open for dinner every Friday evening until 10 pm. Enjoy artfully crafted cuisine served in Tadao Ando’s world renowned building. An evening at the Modern makes for a perfect date night, watch the sunset over the Modern’s reflecting pond as you enjoy a cocktail cleverly inspired by select works from the Museum’s permanent collection.
Come early. Stay late. Have a bite to eat and enjoy a Magnolia at the Modern film in the Modern’s auditorium (showtimes at 6 and 8 pm). Don’t forget to visit the Museum galleries, now open until 8 pm every Friday evening.
For a schedule of films, visit www.themodern.org/magnolia.html.
For dinner reservations and information, call 817.840.2157.
