October 4
Jayson Musson

Jayson Musson is an artist and writer now living and working in New York, New York. For Tuesday Evenings, Musson shares his multifaceted body of work, including performances, drawings, and writings, as well as his “cousin” Hennessey Youngman’s Art Thoughtz. Using his art to comment on everything from Relational Aesthetics and Bruce Nauman to the mythical heroism of Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign, Musson's life experience and recent MFA from the University of Pennsylvania have equipped him with the steely intelligence and sharp wit of great comedians and other cultural provocateurs. Naming his alter ego for comedian Henny Youngman and Hennessy cognac, Musson, as Hennessey Youngman, refers to himself as “the pimp of the one-liners.” In an interview for Dazed & Confused magazine Musson explained, “I find the chaos and incongruence of everyday life to be somewhat humorous, and social commentary is a large part of my art. Even though personally, I'm not that political.”
