TUESDAY EVENINGS AT THE MODERN

This popular series of lectures and presentations by artists, architects, historians, and critics is free and open to the public. To assure seating, free admission tickets can be picked up at the Modern’s admission desk beginning at 5 pm on the day of the lecture. Seating begins at 6:30 pm and is limited to 250. A live broadcast of the lectures is shown in Café Modern for any additional guests. Lectures begin at 7 pm. The Museum galleries and the café remain open until 7 pm on Tuesdays during the series.

Sean Dockray is an artist, writer, and the founding director of Telic Arts Exchange in Los Angeles, who has initiated critical and innovative projects, including The Public School and AAAARG.ORG. Most recently, his work was included in Shadowboxing at the Royal College of Art in London, the Encuentro Internacional de Medellín 2011, and a commissioned project for the 2010 New York Art Book Fair. He recently held a workshop at the Townhouse Gallery in Cairo and spoke at the 29th São Paulo Biennial. His writing has been published in Cabinet, Bidoun, X-TRA, Volume, and Fillip. For Tuesday Evenings, Dockray delves into the ideas that have informed his art and his various online and community initiatives as he presents Exhibitability, a reflection on the sometimes-destructive threshold he observed while running an art space as well as his own queries about alternatives to the exhibition model.
