The Modern maintains one of the foremost collections of modern and contemporary international art in the central United States. Various movements, themes, and styles are represented, On view now on the first floor, important examples of Abstract Expressionism, Color Field painting, Pop art, and Minimalism as well as new acquistions by Sol LeWitt and Jenny Holzer.
The exhibition presents a selection of works that span the past 10 years of the artist’s career, including his elaborately layered paintings and New York Times collages.
The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas, present a joint exhibition of the work of artist David Bates on view February 9 through May 11, 2014. The exhibition is a retrospective of Bates’s work installed in both locations with an emphasis on painting in Fort Worth and sculpture and works on paper in Dallas. This is the first collaboration between the two museums. The exhibition is organized by Dr. Marla Price, director of the Modern, and Jeremy Strick, director of the Nasher.

Take advantage of family programming at the Modern during Spring Break with this program for families with preschool and school-age children. Each session is led by a docent and includes a gallery project designed by the education department. Both the tour and project focus on select works in the Modern’s collection. Registration is required and begins at 1:30 pm. Please visit the front desk to sign-up and receive your packet. Attendance is limited to fourty participants.
Tired of only being able to satisfy your Modern Cinema fix just once a year?
The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth partners with film critic Christopher Kelly to host regular "Modern Cinema" screenings - sneak previews of critically acclaimed titles, unsung highlights from the film festival circuit, and newly restored classic films - on a monthly basis. Kelly introduces the films, and closes with a Q&A session. Film titles will be announced 2 weeks in advance. Screenings are held in the Museum's auditorium.
A 1930s-style screwball romantic comedy, albeit with a cheerfully raunchy modern twist, Love & Air Sex centers on a pair of ex-lovers (Ashley Bell and (Michael Stahl-David), their respective best friends (Sara Paxton and Zach Cregger), a gorgeous musician (Addison Timlin) and a hunky Southerner (Justin Arnold), all of whose fates exuberantly collide at the Air Sex World Championships in Austin.
