Harlan Jacobson’s Talk Cinema
Harlan Jacobson’s Talk Cinema is an exciting new film series at the Modern featuring sneak previews of highly acclaimed foreign and independent films. Cohosted by Christopher Kelly, film critic for the Star-Telegram, the Talk Cinema series encourages discussion among audience members, offering the added bonus of seeing great new films from festivals around the world before they hit theaters. The films vary in nationality and scope, and titles are kept a surprise until the screening.
Last year the series included the films: Bright Star, An Education, Men Who Stare at Goats, The Messenger, Young Victoria, The Yellow Handkerchief, North Face, The Art of the Steal, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Mao’s Last Dancer, and I Am Love.
By partnering with Magnolia at the Modern, already established as the “film art house” of Fort Worth, this new series allows Fort Worth audiences access to new films before they are released in Dallas.
January 8, January 29, February 12, March 11, and April 1
Coffee will be served 10:30 am; screenings begin at 11 am Sunday mornings. Seating is limited to 250 in the Museum’s auditorium.
