Fourteen-year-old Lucía (the wonderful Malú Chouza) isn’t exactly looking forward to her vacation with her younger brother and their divorced father; things only get worse when they arrive at their spa town destination and it refuses to stop raining. From this deceptively simple premise, Uruguayan writer-directors Ana Guevara and Leticia Jorge have fashioned one of the most charming and nuanced coming-of-age stories in years—a portrait of a young girl learning life’s hardest lesson, that sometimes the sun won’t come out tomorrow.
