Neighbor Notes: Modern Mexican Chamber Music

Sounds Modern, directed by new music guru Elizabeth McNutt, presents “Neighbor Notes” in conjunction with the Modern’s exhibition México Inside Out: Themes in Art Since 1990. Mexico’s popular musics are widely appreciated in the US; however, Mexico’s lively contemporary classical music scene is relatively unknown here—classical performers and audiences are more familiar with music from across the oceans than across the border. Sounds Modern presents a cross-section of trends in modern Mexican concert music, including established masters like Mario Lavista, as well as new works from the younger generation. Admission is free.

The Modern will be closed Thursday, March 5, 2015 due to inclement weather.
