The first Friday of each month, the Star-Telegram, the Modern, and Café Modern team up to bring you live music and cocktails in the museum's Grand Lobby from 5 to 8 pm. Bring your friends and enjoy diverse live performances, unique cocktail selections, and the opportunity to dine in Café Modern by night. A docent-led, 20-minute tour of the galleries is available at 6:30 pm (regular gallery admission applies). Gallery admission is free for Modern members and Star-Telegram Press Pass holders during First Fridays at the Modern.

Piranha (Joe Dante, 1978) Joe Dante’s breakout film, Piranha, details the horror of mutant man-eating piranhas determined to ruin a beautiful summer by the lake. Produced by Roger Corman and written by John Sayles, the “best of the Jawsrip-offs” according to Steven Spielberg is Joe Dante’s hilariously gory contribution to B-movies in a time when the genre was elevating from drive-in fodder to box office blockbuster.

Docents are available to lead tours of the Modern’s building, designed by the renowned architect Tadao Ando. Group tours can accommodate 10 to 60 people and last approximately one hour; these tours must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance of the requested date. A public architecture tour is offered on the first Saturday of each month at 11 am.

This program for families with young children is led by a docent and includes a story and short gallery project designed by the education department. Both the tour and project focus on selected works in the Modern’s collection. Registration is not required, but a sign-up sheet is provided at the information desk the day of the program. Attendance is limited; admission is free.

The aim of the Slow Art movement is to break with the often frenetic pace of modern life to simply enjoy works of art in a deliberate and unhurried fashion. Slow Art at the Modern invests in this pause with a 30-minute spotlight tour focusing on one work of art. Led by a Modern docent the third Friday of each month, Slow Art at the Modern begins at 5:30 pm.

The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth presents FRAMING DESIRE, an exhibition showcasing over 40 recent acquisitions alongside iconic photographs and videos from the permanent collection. The Museum has acquired key works by Cory Arcangel, Artemio, Larry Clark, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Rineke Dijkstra, Debbie Grossman, Candida Höfer, Misty Keasler, Ragnar Kjartansson, Robert Mapplethorpe, Gordon Matta-Clark, Ryan McGinley, Nicholas Nixon, Catherine Opie, Orit Raff, Laurie Simmons, Allison V.
