Museum Forum for Teachers: Modern and Contemporary Art
A collaborative summer program for educators features daylong sessions at The Rachofsky Collection, Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas Museum of Art, Kimbell Art Museum, and Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. While deepening their understanding of contemporary and modern art and architecture, participating middle and high school teachers will develop interpretive and instructional strategies for exploring artworks in the classroom and museum galleries. Teen/Artist Project
The Modern’s Teen/Artist Project pairs area high school students with artists as teachers and aims to expand students’ art practices, introducing new concepts, artists, and media.

Graduate Student Lectureship Program

The Graduate Student Lectureship Program is an opportunity for area graduate students in Art and Art History to study original works of art at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and present gallery lectures to the public. Students will each develop two focused gallery talks about works on view at the Modern based on close observation, intensive research, and original analysis. Each thirty-minute lecture will be presented two times over the course of the semester. This opportunity is limited to four graduate students per semester. Accommodations can be made with universities regarding course credit

REQUIREMENTS

• Attend course training sessions and exhibition orientations.

• Demonstrate knowledge of modern and contemporary art.

• Understand and implement quality tour techniques.

• Develop two focused tours and present each to the public two times.

TO APPLY:

• Complete the application and return by June 3, 2013. Notification of acceptance into the program will be announced by June 14, 2013. An interview is required.

Continuing Professional Education Credits
The Modern is certified by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification to offer Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits. Museum Forum for Teachers qualifies as a CPE activity, as do many tours, lectures, studio classes, and workshops offered through the Modern’s education department. Educator Art Cards
Art Cards provide an introduction to selected works in the Modern’s permanent collection. Produced specifically to help educators prepare their students for upcoming visits to the Museum, the Cards provide background information and broader contexts for understanding the individual works. School Repeat Visit Programs
For over a decade, the Modern has been proud to serve area public schools through two repeat visit programs: Writing to Look and Gallery and Studio Connections. For these programs, six middle schools and six high schools each make three unique visits to the Museum over the course of the school year.
