Reproduction, including downloading of ARS protected works is prohibited by copyright laws and international conventions with the express written permission of Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York.

Instructions for Ordering Photographic Reproduction Materials

Your letter, fax, or e-mail should clearly identify the work of art requested. When possible, attach a photocopy of the item(s) made from an illustration in a book or other publication. Please note the credit lines in the publication and give the publication's title, author, and date of publication. No request will be considered if material is needed less than two weeks from receipt of your written request. Thank you.
Upon receipt of your request, the Modern's photo request form will be mailed to you, which serves as both a contract as well as an invoice. The form also states the museum's list of conditions for the reproduction of imagery. Sign the form in the appropriate spaces and return one copy to the attention of the Rights and Reproduction Department with any rental payment. Allow at least two weeks for your request to be processed. Reproduction fees will be due upon publication.
The Modern Art Museum cannot provide reproductions of work controlled by the artist's copyright. In these instances, we will provide you with the appropriate address, if known, so you may contact the artist, artist's estate, or the appropriate foundation. The museum will provide black-and-white prints and color transparencies for reproduction in a publication, film, or other project. In addition to identifying the image(s) clearly, please note as much information about your publication as possible, including:

• title
• author or editor
• publisher or producer
• projected date of publication or broadcast
• whether the piece will be part of a cover project
• language rights requested
• distribution requested
• edition/production

If new photography is required, there will additional photographic fees. Slides or black-and-white photos requested for study purposes will be charged fees listed on the photo request contract. Items are not returnable for credit. Study materials may not be reproduced without further permission.
