"Master filmmaker Alexander Sokurov (Russian Ark) transforms a portrait of the world-renowned museum into a magisterial, centuries-spanning reflection on the relation between art, culture and power."  Dimitri Eipides. Combining documentary elements with fiction, Sokurov's history of the Louvre during the Nazi occupation is a meditation on the meaning and timelessness of art.
