In conjunction with Mexico: Inside Out: Themes in Art Since 1990, the Jacaranda Guitar Ensemble will play the music of contemporary Mexican composer Ernesto García de León. De Leon from Veracruz, Mexico currently lives in Mexico City where he teaches at UNAM. His improvisational style of writing reflects the spontaneity in today's world while his musical melodies and rhythms are distinctly Mexican. The program will consist of solos, duos and a guitar quartet.

Join us for a special preview screening of artist Artemio's first feature-length film. Artemio, one of the dynamic Mexican artists featured in Inside Out, works in a variety of media, including video, sculpture, and installation. His experimental multimedia artworks - such as Rambo, 2001, in which he edited out the physical and verbal violence from the original movie, resulting in a 17-minute video - approach pop culture and current political events with humor and subversion.
This program for families with young children is led by a docent and includes a gallery project designed by the education department. Both the tour and project focus on select works on view at the Modern. Registration is not required, but a sign-up sheet is provided at the information desk the day of the program. Attendance is limited; admission and supplies are free.
Docents are available to lead a public tour of the Modern’s building, designed by the renowned architect Tadao Ando, on the first Saturday of each month at 11 am. This tour does not require prior arrangements and is free with the price of admission.
Docent-led tours in Spanish are offered at 2 pm on the first Sunday of each month, when gallery admission is free. These tours are open to the public and do not require prior arrangements.
Docents are also available to conduct private tours in Spanish, French, German, Mandarin, and American Sign Language when reservations are made at least two weeks in advance.
