This special program is designed for people with memory loss and their caregivers. Participants experience works on view through intimate conversation with docents and thoughtful projects designed by the Museum’s education staff. Two sessions, 10 am and 2 pm, are offered on select Wednesdays, with space available for 20 participants per session.

Rosson Crow lives and works in Los Angeles, California. She was raised in North Dallas, attended the School of Visual Arts in New York for her undergraduate degree, then Yale University for her master’s degree before settling in L.A. In 2009, Crow had her first solo exhibition in the United States here at the Modern, titled Focus: Rosson Crow, from which the museum acquired Sharp’s Rifle Shop, 2009.

The museums, in the Cultural District, offer free admission, and various performing arts organizations offer free performances in and around the museums. This festival is designed to invite local residents to enjoy the world-class cultural experiences offered in Fort Worth.

The Fort Worth Contemporary Music Fund invites you to hear Fort Worth's first Modern Music Festival. Experience the rich legacy of the art music of the Americas performed by Fort Worth's finest musicians. This concert includes solo and chamber music works by American composers Jake Heggie, Martin Blessinger,Timothy Brown and others from both North and South America. Hear beautiful art songs in their original Spanish language and exotic Tango music from Argentina. Performers include Eduardo Rojas, Corrie Donovan and Helen Blackburn.

Participating institutions in the Cultural District open their doors to area educators for this special annual event. Teachers are invited to join Museum staff and volunteers to inaugurate the 2012-2013 school year; they can then walk from one Cultural District institution to the next to learn about programs available for educators and students, participate in gallery tours, gather complimentary resources, and enjoy refreshments.

This program for families with young children is led by a docent and includes a gallery project designed by the Museum's education department. Both the tour and project focus on a few works in the Modern's collection or special exhibition. Registration is not required, but a sign-up sheet is provided at the front desk the day of the program. Attendance is limited; admission is free.

An internationally recognized photographer, Nicholas Nixon has helped shape the dialogue of photographic discourse for over four decades. His work gained broad attention when it was included in one of the most influential exhibitions of the 1970s, New Topographics: Photographs of a Man-Altered Landscape at the George Eastman House in 1975. His first solo museum exhibition in 1976 was curated by John Szarkowski at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Sounds Modern invites you to experience a musical counterpart to the paintings of Lucian Freud. As Freud was reinventing the tradition of portraiture, a generation of English composers was reinventing their relationship with a musical tradition. At the heart of this movement was the ensemble, The Fires of London, formed by Peter Maxwell Davies and an eclectic group of composers and performers. Their concerts delivered an entirely new musical experience.
