This program for children, held on the first Sunday of each month, includes two sessions in order to assure positive interactions and viewing experiences. One session is for ages five to eight and the other is for ages nine to 12. Each free session is led by an artist who takes participants through informal drawing exercises in relation to works in the Modern's collection. Each child under the age of six must be accompanied by an adult during the program. Bring a sketchbook and pencils, or purchase supplies in the Modern Shop.

Participating institutions in the Cultural District open their doors to area educators for this special annual event. Teachers are invited to join Museum staff and volunteers to inaugurate the 2012-2013 school year; they can then walk from one Cultural District institution to the next to learn about programs available for educators and students, participate in gallery tours, gather complimentary resources, and enjoy refreshments.

Day in the District is a celebration of the rich and diverse cultural organizations in Fort Worth, with exciting, entertaining, and interactive programming and performances. The museums, in the Cultural District, offer free admission, and various performing arts organizations offer free performances in and around the museums. This festival is designed to invite local residents to enjoy the world-class cultural experiences offered in Fort Worth.

Participants experience works on view through intimate conversation with docents and thoughtful projects designed by the Museum’s education staff. Two sessions, 10 am and 2 pm, are offered on select Wednesdays, with space available for 20 participants per session.
