Figures from the Collection offers various artists’ perspectives on people and their surroundings. The works’ subject matter ranges from autobiographical and inclusive of friends and acquaintances to historical or completely fictional. Taken entirely from the Modern’s permanent collection, the exhibition includes paintings, photographs, videos, prints, and drawings.

25 Pages Zine Competition!
Artists Randy Guthmiller, Shasta Haubrich, and Lisa Huffaker challenge kids to design zine pages in response to works in the Modern’s collection. There will be a frenzy of art materials and competitive energy! Children can scan and submit their designs for consideration for the Modern’s fifth edition of 25 Pages, which will be available to kids visiting the Modern in the new year. This program is FREE and open to children of all ages. All materials are provided.

The aim of the Slow Art movement is to break with the often frenetic pace of modern life to simply enjoy works of art in a deliberate and unhurried fashion. Slow Art at the Modern invests in this pause with a 30-minute spotlight tour focusing on one work of art. Led by a Modern docent the third Friday of each month, Slow Art at the Modern begins at 5:30 pm.
