660 Curries at Café Modern
Raghavan Iyer, author of 660 Curries will be at the Modern for a book signing.
Saturday, February 6th
11 am to 1 pm
Café Modern and Chef Dena Peterson will do a curry special
from Iyer’’s book Wednesday, February 3 through Saturday, February 6
“This book is nothing short of a treasure chest containing an endless supply of very authentic Indian recipes, each bursting with the true flavors of India’s many regions. You will not only want to cook from it but also use it as a reference, especially when you encounter new, tantalizing ingredients in Asian markets (such as amaranth and dried yellow peas) and desperately want to add them to your repertoire. I love the book. I think Raghavan has done a heroic job.” Madhur Jaffrey, Cookbook Author, Actress.

I SHOT ANDY WARHOL
8 pm
Museum Auditorium
“An exemplary and dynamic work that goes about as far as a narrative film can in both analyzing a complex personality and portraying a cultural scene.” Variety, Todd McCarthy.
In 1968, mad, radical-feminist genius Valerie Solanas shot pop-art icon Andy Warhol, seriously wounding him. This film traces her bizarre life leading to that moment, including the writing of her “SCUM Manifesto,” which decrees males biologically obsolete.

DFW.com, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and The Lone Star Film Society
Come dressed in your Oscar best — or, if the spirit strikes you, come dressed as Brad, Angelina, an Avatar, Julia Child or maybe Bad Blake.
Walk the red carpet at the Modern, where DFW.com’s crack team of entertainment junkies will be on hand to talk about the nominated movies and to award prizes.
(And to tell you if your outfit is worthy of a nomination.)
Beginning at 7 pm, the Oscar broadcast will be shown live via satellite in the Modern’s auditorium.
Throughout the show, lights snacks and drinks will be available for purchase in the Modern lobby.
This year, we're especially excited to be offering a special grand prize to the best Oscar-inspired costume of the year. Do you own a platinum blonde wig, high heels and a football? A bomb-defusing suit? Heck, if you want to get drunk, gain 40 pounds and don a cowboy hat, you might just win over the judges’ crazy hearts.
Attendance is free, and no tickets are necessary, although you may want to reserve a seat in the auditorium. We'll also have TVs tuned to the broadcast in the museum's lobby, where many of our guests preferred to schmooze in proper Hollywood fashion last year.
The Schedule:
6 pm: Doors open. Walk the red carpet, where the paparazzi’s flashbulbs will be popping. DFW.com’s style gurus will let you know if you’re a fashion hit or runway road kill.
6:45 pm: Star-Telegram and DFW.com film critic Christopher Kelly talks about the year in film and takes your questions.
7 pm: The Oscar telecast begins. The telecast will be aired via satellite in the Modern’’s auditorium with remote viewing screens in the Modern Lobby
During the commercial breaks: Win a wide array of prizes, including free DVDs, movie tickets, membership to the Modern’s “Reel People,” and other surprises.
