When I arrived at the Modern a few Mondays ago, I found the weekend papers waiting for me at the intern desk. I anxiously read all of the articles written about the July 5th opening of Kara Walker: My Complement, My Enemy, My Oppressor, My Love. One Dallas writer discovered that Walker's silhouettes may have smooth edges, but their provocative subject matter just may cut you. A surgeon does have to cut you to remove diseased organs, and a Fort Worth art critic found that Walker's silhouettes are just as sharp as a surgeon's scalpel to cut away at society's ills.

Well, I have to say the articles were interesting, but the Modern interns want to know what you think about Kara Walker: My Complement, My Enemy, My Oppressor, My Love. We know you have something to say. You don't have to keep it to yourself. Please, do share.

We will even help you get started because during the next four weeks, the Modern Blog will be All About Kara. Christine and I will be posing a series of questions based on Kara Walker's explosive exhibit title. Of course we will also keep you in the know about all things Kara including links to more interesting articles and books so check back often. I know--you check the Modern Blog everyday, right? Ok. I also know you're dying to post your comments so here is the first question:

What is Kara Walker's complement?
