SCHEDULE

September 13
Robert K. Wallace, Regents Professor of English at Northern Kentucky University and author of Frank Stella's Moby-Dick: Words and Shapes, presents "Pursuing Frank Stella's Moby-Dick in Body, Mind, and Words."

September 20
Tom Sachs, a New York-based and internationally recognized artist, introduces the Modern's screening of the 2015 film A Space Program, directed by Van Neistat and based on Sachs's simulation of a voyage to Mars installed and performed at Park Avenue Armory in 2012.

September 27
Eric R. Kandel, MD, a Nobel Prize recipient and neuropsychiatrist, presents findings and ideas from his 2012 book The Age of Insight: The Quest to Understand the Unconscious in Art, Mind, and Brain, From Vienna 1900 to the Present.

October 4
Benny Merris, a Brooklyn-based artist, presents his work as an abstract painter, photographer, and performer. His work in the 2013 Contemporary Arts Museum Houston exhibition Outside the Lines created a sense of what the artist calls "sympathetic magic."

October 11
Ryan McGinness, a New York-based artist, presents "The Logic of this Work Is Stronger than the Logic of the World in Which it Exists," in which he uses a seven-by-twenty-foot painting of his studio as a point of departure for addressing his different bodies of work.

October 18
Roberto de Leon, Jr., FAIA, LEED AP, a partner and cofounder of De Leon & Primmer Architecture Workshop and the lead juror for Fort Worth AIA's 2016 Design Awards, presents the ideas and practices behind his environmentally and regionally sensitive work.

October 25
Carlo McCormick, a culture critic and curator living in New York City, uses his unique insights and his long-term friendship with KAWS to set up the Modern's exhibition KAWS: Where the End Starts following its opening weekend. McCormick's presentation offers art historical and cultural context for KAWS's work, which he has followed since the beginning of the artist's career.
