Atrium Quartet- “Poetry and Industry”

CMSFW welcomes back the Atrium Quartet for their second appearance.  Currently based in Berlin, the Atrium has been described as “One of the most inspiring, dynamic, and charismatic ensembles on the musical scene.” Founded in 2000, while still students at the St. Petersburg Conservatoire, they were mentored by Josef Levinson, uncle of CMSFW Artist Director, Gary Levinson. 

Known for their “Shostakovich Marathons” in which the entire cycle of all 15 quartets are performed in one day, the Atrium will perform Quartet No. 4 in D Major by Shostakovich on this concert.  The Atrium performs on rare instruments by Italian Luthiers-violins by Paolo Castello (1773) and Ferdinando Gagliano, viola by Lorenzo Carcassi (1775) and cello by Giovanni Battista Ceruti (1798).

“Vivid chamber music,” “reverberating greatness,” and “total artistry of the musicians” are some of the phrases the press has used to describe their concerts.
