The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth presents Modern 'til Midnight: Beats and Baroque on Saturday, October 24, from 6 pm to midnight, in conjunction with the exhibition Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic.
An eclectic array of live music will be featured outside against the Modern's reflecting pond during the Modern's extended, late-night hours. In addition, guests have the opportunity to enjoy unique spotlight tours in the galleries, a DJ and dancing in the Grand Lobby, prize drawings from the Modern Shop, and exceptional cuisine from Café Modern. Don't miss a special appearance by the Fort Worth Opera. UPDATE 10/22/2015 -The performances will be moved into the Grand Lobby.

Café Modern and Lobby Bar
Cash bars will be available from 6 pm until last call at 11:30 pm. Enjoy a global assortment of Modern appetizers and Café Modern food service in the restaurant from 5 to 9 pm. The Modern Grill will offer hamburgers, hot dogs, and picnic fare available for dining outside on the lawn from 6 to 11 pm. Beverages and food are not included in the admission price. Bars are cash only.
Café Modern picnic basket dinners for two are available to preorder for $40.
Baskets include assorted cheeses and fruits, crusty rolls and crackers, salads, dessert, and bottled water. A choice of wines is available with the basket, starting at $28 per bottle. Happenings in the Galleries
The special exhibition Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic will be on view, along with selected works from the Modern's permanent collection. Special tours will be available throughout the evening. Modern 'til Midnight admission includes access to the galleries.
Adding a special element to the evening’s programming, Fort Worth Opera Festival star baritone Justin Hopkins will make special appearances throughout the event in a few unconventional spaces.

Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic is an overview highlighting the range of the artist's prolific 14-year career and comprising approximately 60 works. The exhibition begins with early examples of paintings inspired by Wiley's observations of street life in Harlem; these images of African American men mark the onset of his focused exploration of the male figure. In subsequent work, Wiley further examines the European tradition of portraiture, taking specific paintings by renowned masters such as Titian, Van Dyck, and Manet and replacing the historical subjects with contemporary, young black men sporting fashionable urban gear. These likenesses are set against ornate, decorative backgrounds on large canvases - part of Wiley's signature style - in order to raise issues of class in addition to race and gender. A New Republic also includes a selection from the artist's ongoing World Stage project, examples of his bronze busts, and a chapel-like structure that showcases his new stained-glass "paintings."
