Art 101: Getting to Know the Building

As a benefit of your Modern membership, you are invited to complimentary Art 101 classes designed to strengthen your connection to the Modern and broaden your knowledge of modern and contemporary art and architecture.

Each hour-long class will be hosted the third Wednesday of selected months in Café Modern from 6 to 7 pm. A cas h bar will be available. You are encouraged to bring friends. To make reservations, e-mail membership@themodern.org or call 817.840.2115.

Getting to Know the Building is a look at the materials and spaces of the Modern’s architecture, with an introduction to architect Tadao Ando’s process and concerns in designing and shepherding the Modern to completion. Members walk through the building’s various spaces to see and feel the effects of the architect’s choices, as well as noting how the building functions in relation to the art it showcases.
