October 4: Misty Keasler: HAUNT

November 1: When Culture Came to Cowtown - Have you ever wondered how we got here? 2017 marks 125 years since the founding of the institution now known as the Modern. We will look at those years through the people involved, the collection and its growth, and the buildings we have occupied. We will look closely at our Tadao Ando building and at what the future holds for the museum.

February 7: Art 101, Part I

April 4: Art 101, Part II

The class on Misty Keasler: HAUNT provides information about our fall exhibition. Senior Curator Andrea Karnes offers a closer look at Keasler’s evocative images and artistic practice. Wednesday, October 4, 6–7 pm/Galleries open until 6 pm

Getting to Know the Building is a look at the materials and spaces of the Modern’s architecture, with an introduction to architect Tadao Ando’s process and concerns in designing and shepherding the Modern to completion.

Wednesday, November 1, 6–7 pm/Galleries open until 6 pm

Art 101 is a quick and easy overview of art from Modernism forward, presented in two 60-minute classes. This abbreviated art history presentation is merely, but significantly, an introduction meant to contextualize the Modern’s collection and pique interest to learn more through gallery visits and program participation at the Modern. Part I: Wednesday, February 7. Part II: Wednesday, April 4. 6–7 pm/Galleries open until 6 pm
