Summary Description:
As a Systems and Network Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our company’s network infrastructure, ensuring secure and efficient operations. You will oversee server environments, network hardware, and software systems critical to the organization's daily functions, including database management systems. Your role will be essential in maintaining a reliable IT infrastructure that supports our business operations.
Responsibilities
Network Administration:
• Administer, monitor, and optimize local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN) to ensure reliable operation.
• Manage network security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
• Perform regular network performance analysis and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
• Configure and maintain network hardware such as routers, switches, and wireless access points.
• Ensure network scalability to accommodate future growth.
Systems Administration:
• Manage and maintain the company's server infrastructure, ensuring smooth operations of file, application, and database servers.
• Perform routine system updates, patches, and security configurations on both physical and virtual servers.
• Set up, configure, and maintain server hardware, including storage systems and backups.
• Maintain Active Directory and Group Policy, ensuring appropriate access controls and user permissions.
• Oversee the deployment and maintenance of cloud-based services, if applicable.
SQL Database Management:
• Administer and maintain SQL databases, ensuring data integrity, availability, and security.
• Optimize database performance through query tuning and index optimization.
• Monitor database health and troubleshoot issues such as bottlenecks, slow queries, and data inconsistencies.
• Perform regular database backups and implement disaster recovery plans for SQL databases.
• Collaborate with developers and application teams to support database-related tasks.
Security Management:
• Implement and maintain IT security policies and procedures, including system access controls and data encryption.
• Monitor for security vulnerabilities and take proactive measures to safeguard the organization’s data and network systems.
• Conduct regular system and network security audits to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Coordinate with third-party security vendors and manage threat detection and response protocols.
Documentation and Training:
• Create and maintain up-to-date documentation for network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Document database schemas, configurations, and maintenance routines.
• Provide technical training to other IT staff or end-users as needed.
• Document system changes and implementations for future reference and disaster recovery planning.
Hardware and Software Procurement:
• Evaluate and recommend new hardware and software purchases based on evolving business needs.
• Maintain inventory of network and server hardware, as well as software licenses.
• Oversee vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery and installation of IT resources.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
• Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or Network Administrator in a professional environment.
• Strong knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
• Experience with SQL database management, including optimization and backup strategies.
• Proficiency with server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
• Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and network security protocols.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) are a plus.
Physical Requirements:

• Sitting for extended periods of time.
• Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
• Seeing to view monitor and read a variety of materials.
• Walking significant distances.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling moderately heavy objects (50lbs) as needed for the position.
• Climbing ladders to access equipment.
