Last day with Iris Bechtol

December 2 was T/AP’s final day with Iris Bechtol. The students were tasked with completing their Merzbau-inspired projects. Using corrugated cardboard, colored tape, and other available media, the teen artists constructed works that were modular and easy to both assemble and disassemble.

With the freedom to explore their own artmaking practices, the teen artists each developed their own take on the project, leading to a wide array of approaches and styles. Some students pursued geometric forms, while others explored the curvilinear; some investigated architectural structures, and still others focused on interesting textures.

As this was our last day with Iris, we again went outside to take a group photo with her to commemorate the occasion. We are all so appreciative of the many Sundays she spent with us and the skills she imparted to our teen artists!
