The 1st Annual NY Cat Film Festival™ is a medley of short films – documentary and narrative - that honor the mysterious felines, who have fascinated mankind for centuries and continue to enchant us.
Cats have their own unique and indescribable bond with people – even when living independently as community cats. This festival celebrates that attachment, while giving back to animal welfare groups that protect cats and elevate their status.

Tempest Trio

The Modern’s Teen/Artist Project pairs area high school students with artists as teachers and aims to expand students’ art practices, introducing new concepts, artists, and media.

The New York Times called American composer and harpist Hannah Lash’s work “striking and resourceful…handsomely brooding,” raving “you hoped to hear it again.” And artists have certainly agreed; her works have been commissioned by numerous orchestras and string quartets, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra and JACK Quartet, and performed at the country’s top venues, such as Carnegie Hall, Disney Concert Hall, (Le) Poisson Rouge, Tanglewood Music Center, and Aspen Music Festival.
Have you ever overheard the private thoughts of a stranger? In this concert, Sounds Modern will present music that projects inward experience out loud. Much as Ron Mueck’s lifelike and detailed sculptures invite their viewers into the psychological experiences of the figures, music of California visionary James Tenney and other innovative composers will invite the audience to listen in(ward) to intimate meditations and conversations.
The Museum will be FREE and open to the public from 10 am to 5 pm for SPRING BREAK MONDAY.

Ethnomusicology PhD student José R. Torres-Ramos of the University of North Texas will delve into the history and the evolution of tango, exploring its origin as a dance between two men, into an elegant, international expression of love, lust, and desire.
