A Fierce Green Fire

This film by Academy Award nominee Mark Kitchell is the first big-picture exploration of the environmental movement, spanning 50 years of activism. It chronicles the largest movement of the 20th century by telling vivid stories about people fighting – and succeeding – against the odds, from the Grand Canyon to Love Canal, from the oceans to the Amazon.

Sounds Modern

WATCH LIVE

The most up-to-the-minute and least predictable concert music series in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Sounds Modern explores links between contemporary music and visual arts, connecting thematically to exhibits at the Modern . Directed by flutist and modern music guru Elizabeth McNutt, Sounds Modern brings a sonic dimension to the groundbreaking artwork presented at the Modern.

Drawing from the Collection for Children

Each Drawing from the Collection for Children session is led by an artist who takes participants through informal drawing exercises in relation to works in the Modern’s galleries. The April session will be led by artist Nick Bontrager. Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult during the program. Bring a sketchbook and pencils. Attendance is limited, so early arrival is encouraged. A sign-up sheet is located at the information desk.

First Friday at the Modern

Join us for First Friday at the Modern. We invite you to enjoy an evening of art and music.

The first Friday of each month, the Modern and Café Modern team up to bring you live music from the First Friday House Band, and drink specials and tasty light bites in the museum's Grand Lobby from 5 to 8 pm. Invite friends to enjoy a unique opportunity to experience the Modern in the evening.

Slow Art

The aim of the Slow Art movement is to break with the often frenetic pace of modern life to simply enjoy works of art in a deliberate and unhurried fashion. Slow Art at the Modern invests in this pause with a 30-minute spotlight tour focusing on one work of art.
