The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth Hosts Instagramers for First Peek at #emptymodern
The Museum starts a new awareness initiative using Instagram. WHO: Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and a group of ten local Instagramers WHAT: The Modern's first #emptymodern event WHEN: A day that the Modern is closed to the public, therefore "empty". Monday, October 6; 10 am-noon WHERE: Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell Street, Fort Worth, TX 76107 The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, with the help of photographer Olaf Growald, is starting a new awareness initiative using Instagram. The idea for #emptymodern began with a program that Mr. Growald discovered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. To begin a similar program, we asked ten Instagramers from different professions and backgrounds with a special interest in the Modern to be a part of the pilot #emptymodern. Beginning on Monday, October 6 from 10 am to noon and continuing monthly, the Modern will host a group of Instagramers at the "empty Modern." The museum is closed to the public on Monday, therefore the participants have the opportunity to venture through the Museum and grounds unimpeded. They may snap away with their favorite smartphone or camera. All the photos the participants upload to Instagram will be tagged #emptymodern @themodernfw. The goal of this initiative is to showcase new perspectives on the Modern to the public, grow #emptymodern and Modern followers, as well as support our participants as they build their followers. The program will be continued with a new group each month. In the spring, we will hold a #emptymodern Insta-Meet for the whole community, date to be announced! |
