Bad Education

When an old friend brings filmmaker Enrique Goded (Fele Martínez) a semi-autobiographical script chronicling their adolescence, Enrique is forced to relive his youth spent at a Catholic boarding school in the 1960s. Weaving through past and present, the script follows a transvestite performer (Gael García Bernal) who reconnects with a grade school sweetheart. Spurred on by this chance encounter, the character reflects on her childhood sexual victimization and the trauma of closeting her sexual orientation.

Experience a diverse collection of voices and narratives through these feature films and documentaries, including contemporary pieces, independent works, and timeless classics. From passionate dramas and joyful comedies to deeply rooted tales of identity, family, and tradition, each selection offers a window into the rich legacy of Hispanic and Latinx cinema and its profound influence on the global film industry.

Attendees will be able to engage in discussions, participate in Q&A sessions, and immerse themselves in storytelling that connects continents and spans generations. Admission is free and open to the public. Screenings begin at 7 pm. The films are projected in the Modern auditorium and capacity is limited to the first 250 people.

La entrada es gratuita y abierta al público. Las proyecciones empiezan a las 7 p. m. Las películas se proyectan en el auditorio del Modern y el aforo está limitado a las primeras 250 personas.
