Bread N Gravy: The Songs and Life of Ethel Waters

This event is sold out.

Presented by Jubilee Theatre in the Modern's auditorium

Bread N' Gravy written by Frank Cullen and Donald McNeilly tells the story of singer Ethel Waters through this beautiful stage reading.

Always finding unique ways to bring the most revealing sense of the African American experience to North Texas audiences, Jubilee Theatre brings it “home” again with their upcoming production of Bread ‘N’ Gravy: The Songs and Life of Ethel Waters.

The Antidote

Made in response to the times we are living in, The Antidote is a feature documentary that weaves together stories of kindness, decency, and the power of community in America. It's about everyday people who make the intentional choice to lift others up, despite the fundamentally unkind ways of our society, which are at once facts of life in America and yet deeply antithetical to our founding ideals.

One Fine Morning

“A beautifully bittersweet and generous movie — which, like life itself, draws no distinction between the significant and the insignificant...” Justin Chang; Los Angeles Times.

Sandra, a young mother who raises her daughter alone, pays regular visits to her sick father. While she and her family fight tooth and nail to get him the care he requires, Sandra reconnects with Clément, a friend she hasn't seen in a while. Although he is in a relationship, the two begin a passionate affair.

Rated R; French with English subtitles; 112 minutes.

I’m also very excited to work with the audiences at the Modern. I’ve been there just for a couple of weeks, and I’ve been very impressed when I walk through the galleries, hearing people talking about art and the type of conversations that they’re having.
