Welcome the newest acquisition to the Modern's sculpture collection, The Seated III, 2019, by Wangechi Mutu. Mutu's work explores themes of femininity across history and civilizations and in many different media. This large bronze figure, enveloped in a coiled garment, refers to cultural conflict and the ties between art and architecture. Join us to discover what she evokes in you. Led by a Modern docent.

Modern educators lead a family-oriented project via a short instructional video designed in relation to works in the Modern’s permanent collection.

Hands-on exercises relate to works you might remember from visiting the Modern's galleries or are introduced to here and can look forward to visiting in the future. Projects are designed with household materials in mind.
