Exaltations, a concert showcasing the “richly rendered music” (Thought Catalogue) of Texas-native and New York-based composer, Gilbert Galindo, the beautiful and emotive music of Stanton Nelson, the “fiery, rhythmically pointed and occasionally pugilistic” (New York Times) music of Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz, and the mystical music of Arvo Pärt will be presented at the Modern featuring violinist Marina Dichenko, cellist Patrick Moore, and pianists Stanton Nelson and Syuzanna Kaszo. This concert will take you on an afternoon journey of joys and lamentations, from solo piano to piano trio works.

The featured work is the world premiere of Galindo’s “Darkness is not dark for You” for piano (written during the COVID shutdown) which was commissioned by the Gabriela Lena Frank Academy of Music for Stanton Nelson and a newly written piano trio. Other works on the program are Stanton Nelson’s “Drifting” and “Metamorphosis” for piano, Gabriela Ortiz’s “Trifolium” for piano trio, and Arvo Pärt’s “Für Alina” and the cherished “Fratres”.
