Join us on April 4 for First Friday at the Modern and explore the works of Aubrey Williams through music. The TCU Graduate Student Ensemble, comprised of Catalina Arteaga (piano), Daniela Herrera (cello), and Liz Muñoz (violin), will perform music by composers Dmitri Shostakovich and Silvestre Revueltas in response to the special exhibition Feeling Color: Aubrey Williams and Frank Bowling. This performance invites viewers to consider the correlations between sound and form, and the impact of Shostakovich’s music on Williams’s artistic practice.

Join us on May 2 for First Friday at the Modern and explore the works of Aubrey Williams through music, in conjunction with our special exhibition Feeling Color: Aubrey Williams and Frank Bowling. TCU Associate Professor of Collaborative Piano and Chamber Music Dr. Michael Bukhman will be joined by TCU graduate students Aleksandra Czerniecka (piano), Angelene Ku (violin), and Jayme Eck (cello), performing solo piano and chamber music by composer Dmitri Shostakovich in response to the special exhibition, particularly Williams’s painting Symphony No. 11, opus 103 (Shostakovich), 1981. This performance invites viewers to consider the correlations between sound and form, and the impact of Shostakovich’s music on Williams’s artistic practice.
