The Legend of Big Bend - Montopolis

  • February 24, 2019 7:30 PM

Critically acclaimed indie classical group Montopolis turns west Texas tales into song in this concert premier inspired by Big Bend National Park. The performance weaves science, history, poetry and personal stories into music inspired by the land and the people that have walked upon it.  Music and story are accompanied by breathtaking video that captures the epic grandeur of the vast high desert wilderness.

Led by composer Justin Sherburn, Montopolis combines country, folk, and rock styles into modern classical arrangements the Austin Chronicle has called "stunning" and "transcendent". The group produces multi-media events that combine live music with video and interactive story telling. The musicians include members of the Austin Symphony, Okkervil River, The Polyphonic Spree and the Tosca String Quartet.  Montopolis hopes to inspire responsible stewardship of our natural resources through performances that celebrate the beauty of nature.
