ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Always a welcome ensemble to the CMSFW series, the Amernet String Quartet returns for its third appearance.  The Amernet has earned recognition as one of today’s exceptional string quartets.  Their performance schedule has taken the quartet across the Americas and to Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.  They have collaborated with many of today’s most prominent artists including the Tokyo and Ying Quartets as well as Shmuel Askenasi, Robert deMaine, Roberto Díaz, Anthony McGill, Sherrill Milnes, and Michael Tree.

This program will introduce the Fort Worth audience to Piano Sonata No.23 “Appassionata,” by Beethoven which has been reinterpreted for string quartet by Jeffery Briggs.  This work was written for and created with the counsel of the Amernet.  About this work Gary Levinson wrote, “The supreme contrasts of that sonata lend themselves to the medium of the string quartet, and when I first heard it, I felt it would be a phenomenal work to introduce to our audience.”
