Few young American Ensembles are as exciting and accomplished as the Dover Quartet writes The New Yorker.  The Dover Quartet returns to present well-known classics through the fresh eyes of a young quartet at the height of their powers.  Of the Dover’s 2017 performance sponsored by the Chamber Music Society of Fort Worth it was written- the audience found out why this ensemble is making waves in the classical music world. -- Theater Jones

The ensemble opens the concert with two Mozart string quartets; String Quartet K. 589 and 590.  They are the second and third of three quartets Mozart composed and dedicated to the king of Prussia, Friedrich Wilhelm II. They were posthumously published in December 1791, a few weeks after Mozart’s death. Mozart met the king in Potsdam in April 1789. Mozart played before the king in Berlin on May 26 of that year.

The quartet ends the program with Dvořák’s String Quartet, No. 12.  It was written in 1893, during Dvořák's time in the United States. The quartet is one of the most popular in the chamber music repertoire.
