In The Blind #19, 1986, the French conceptual artist Sophie Calle explores the idea of beauty as expressed in the words of a woman blind since birth. The work consists of a photograph of the woman interviewed, her typeset response, and Calle's own photographic interpretation of that response. The result is an intriguing meditation on the nature of beauty in the eye of the beholder.  Explore in depth during this virtual tour led by a Modern docent.
