 Artists Trey Burns and Tamara Johnson

Tamara Johnson is an artist and educator living in San Marcos, TX working primarily in sculpture. Johnson obtained a BFA from UT Austin and MFA in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her projects have been exhibited at The Nasher Sculpture Center, The Blanton Museum of Art, Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Saint Louis Art Museum, Socrates Sculpture Park, CUE Art Foundation, Wave Hill, and Keijsers Koning Gallery. Johnson has received grants from the Brooklyn Arts Council, The Foundation for Contemporary Art, Meadows Museum, Dallas Museum of Art, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Works have been featured in the New York Times’ T Magazine, the Brooklyn Rail, the Dallas Morning News, Nasher Magazine, and the Modern Art Notes Podcast. She co-founded Sweet Pass Sculpture Park with artist Trey Burns in 2018, and is currently working on a permanent commission for the Elisabet Ney Museum and a solo exhibition at Women & Their Work in March 2027.

Trey Burns is an artist, writer, and educator based in Texas, where he currently teaches at Texas State University. His practice moves across video, animation, installation, sculpture, publishing, and experimental media, often beginning with research, fieldwork, and found material. Burns was a 2025 Research Fellow at the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds, UK, and is the 2027 Host Artist for the HOST series at The Contemporary Austin. Since 2018, he has co-directed Sweet Pass Sculpture Park, a nonprofit arts organization supporting experimental and large-scale outdoor projects by emerging artists. His work has been exhibited and screened at the Nasher Sculpture Center, Saint Louis Art Museum, Pavillon Vendôme, Hyperreal Film Club, and elsewhere. His writing has appeared in Southwest Contemporary, the Holt/Smithson Foundation, Nasher Magazine, Berlin Art Link, and Burnaway.
