As guest curator for this Tuesday Evenings with the Modern program, the artist Stanley Whitney, whose work was featured in the Modern’s exhibition FOCUS: Stanley Whitney in 2017, has invited the director and partner of Galerie Nordenhake in Mexico City, Toni Sadurní Viñas, to give a presentation on his curatorial work. Sadurní Viñas will highlight the dialogue that occurs between the work of the gallery’s artists and the context of Mexico.

Toni Sadurní Viñas, born in Barcelona in 1990 and now living and working in Mexico City, has an MA in Art History in the Global Context from the Freie Universität Berlin and a BA in Art History from the University of Barcelona. He received an Erasmus Grant from Technische Universität Berlin and has served as editor, translator, and author for many exhibition catalogues, including art, Vic, 1780–1980 (Museu de l’Art de la Pell, Barcelona, 2015) and menjar (ACVic, Centre d’Arts Contemporànies, Vic, Barcelona, 2015).

As an onsite program, Tuesday Evenings at the Modern is on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic. Being There: Tuesday Evenings with the Modern is a unique and relevant online alternative.

Each presenter has been invited by a past Tuesday Evenings at the Modern participant to give a presentation on a topic of their choice. The slate of talks offers an array of perspectives in a moment when people are anxious to connect, share knowledge, and learn from each other as we strive to improve and expand our understanding of ourselves and the world through the arts.

The Being There: Tuesday Evenings with the Modern format will allow for a live experience, with questions and discussion following each 30-minute presentation. Free registration will be available one week in advance. REGISTER HERE.
