Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth celebrates the CD/FW company's 25th anniversary season with the special project "Dance Unplugged" as part of the Modern Dance Festival at The Modern. "Dance Unplugged" will feature a wide array of guest companies and artists performing works celebrating movement as a primary and profound form of communication. These informal performances will take place in the Grand Lobby, and participating artists will agree not to use recorded music or amplification and to refrain from using "technology" (e.g.

Well Contested Sites (Amie Dowling, USA, 2012; 13:27) - Developed and shot on Alcatraz Island, this film explores the issue of mass incarceration and the complex experience faced by the incarcerated.
Applause Music Festival
An afternoon of contemporary viola and piano works by living composers. Featuring the music of celebrated composer Joel Hoffman along with a cast of composers active in the field today, Violist Travis Baird and Pianist Liudmila Georgievskaya are sure to please an audience of all ages.

July 28 - Films by Mario García Torres
Mario García Torres, a conceptual artist known for work that addresses the ways in which art and information are constructed over time, was featured this spring in the Modern's FOCUS: Mario García Torres. The exhibition included the video The Schlieren Plot, a signature work in that, as explained by the exhibition's curator Alison Hearst, it uses unrealized Texas-based projects by the late artist Robert Smithson as a springboard for broader topics.

Alejandro Jodorowsky’s film The Dance of Reality, 2013, was recommended by recent Tuesday Evenings lecturer Sina Najafi, editor-in-chief of Cabinet magazine and the editorial director of Cabinet Books, who presented a special project based on the work of Gordon Matta-Clark.
