Drawing from the Collection

Learn with local artists as they lead informal basic drawing classes in the galleries. This free class is open to adults at all skill levels—just bring a sketchbook and pencils. Registration is not required, but participants should sign in at the information desk. The December session will be led by Francisco Josue Alvarado Araujo.

Drawing from the Collection for Children

Each Drawing from the Collection for Children session is led by an artist who takes participants through informal drawing exercises in relation to works in the Modern’s galleries. The December session will be led by artist Michelle Justice. Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult during the program. Bring a sketchbook and pencils. Attendance is limited, so early arrival is encouraged. A sign-up sheet is located at the information desk.

Wesleyan at The Modern

Texas Wesleyan Music Department presents Wesleyan at The Modern

The showcase concert will feature solo performances by students and faculty members, including the Wesleyan Chamber Choir, Instrumental Chamber Ensembles, and Jazz Combo. Free to the public.

Philip Guston, Slow Art

The aim of the Slow Art movement is to break with the often frenetic pace of modern life to simply enjoy works of art in a deliberate and unhurried fashion. Slow Art at the Modern invests in this pause with a 30-minute spotlight tour focusing on one work of art. Led by a Modern docent the November tour will focus on Philip Guston.
