Virtual Art 101: From Teen to Teacher, Art and the Next Generation With Artist and Educator Randy Guthmiller
The Modern’s Teen/Artist Project (TAP) is an ongoing program in which regional and national teaching artists expand the knowledge of art, analysis, and techniques for young, aspiring artists. Hear from Randy Guthmiller, a former TAP student, about how his participation in this program shaped his career trajectory and approach to artmaking, which today includes painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, and performance.

Toni Sadurní Viñas
As guest curator for this Tuesday Evenings with the Modern program, the artist Stanley Whitney, whose work was featured in the Modern’s exhibition FOCUS: Stanley Whitney in 2017, has invited the director and partner of Galerie Nordenhake in Mexico City, Toni Sadurní Viñas, to give a presentation on his curatorial work. Sadurní Viñas will highlight the dialogue that occurs between the work of the gallery’s artists and the context of Mexico.

Ellsworth Kelly - Slow Art, Virtual
In this installment, we look at three works by Ellsworth Kelly, Red Panel, Dark Green Panel, and Dark Blue Panel, all completed in 1986. Kelly’s work often defies categorization, a fact that pleased him. Are these paintings? Sculpture? Installation? Kelly denied that they represented objects, saying, “They are objects themselves.” Explore the contradictions with a Modern docent.
Drawing from the Collection, Virtual
Adults at all skill levels learn with local artists who lead informal activities in response to selected works from the Modern’s permanent collection. Investigate and respond to works of art from the Modern’s galleries from the comfort of your own home. Each online instructional video is uniquely designed so there is something new awaiting you—just show up with a sketchbook and pencils.

Drawing from the Collection for Children, Virtual
Learn with local artists Loc Huynh and Adrian Zuñiga as they lead informal projects on video. Hands-on exercises relate to works you might remember from visiting the Modern’s galleries or are introduced to here and can look forward to visiting in the future. Projects are designed with household materials in mind.
