The New York Times called American composer and harpist Hannah Lash’s work “striking and resourceful…handsomely brooding,” raving “you hoped to hear it again.” And artists have certainly agreed; her works have been commissioned by numerous orchestras and string quartets, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra and JACK Quartet, and performed at the country’s top venues, such as Carnegie Hall, Disney Concert Hall, (Le) Poisson Rouge, Tanglewood Music Center, and Aspen Music Festival.

Have you ever overheard the private thoughts of a stranger? In this concert, Sounds Modern will present music that projects inward experience out loud. Much as Ron Mueck’s lifelike and detailed sculptures invite their viewers into the psychological experiences of the figures, music of California visionary James Tenney and other innovative composers will invite the audience to listen in(ward) to intimate meditations and conversations.

At the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Texas, InterHarmony® will present a rare opportunity to compare two titans of the Romantic period through their most beloved chamber works superlatively performed by a roster of internationally acclaimed musicians. On Saturday, March 24 at 2PM Brahms' 1st Piano Trio in B-major will share the stage with Tchaikovsky's String Sextet, Souvenir de Florence.

Part musical journey, part academic lecture, this fascinating night of movement and sound will explore the birth of tango during the 19th century, as it developed in the brothels and cafes of Buenos Aires.
Ethnomusicology PhD student José R. Torres-Ramos of the University of North Texas will delve into the history and the evolution of tango, exploring its origin as a dance between two men, into an elegant, international expression of love, lust, and desire.

Texas New Music Ensemble performs its first concert in Ft. Worth! TNME flutist, Meg Griffith, will be performing a set of intense and alluring works for flute, piccolo, and electronics by Texas composers from Ft. Worth, Dallas, Austin, and Houston including a World Premiere of Miss.Sogyny by Ft. Worth's Neil Anderson-Himmelspach, the Ft. Worth premiere of Big Kahuna by Ft. Worth's Till Meyn, and an acclaimed solo work composed by TNME's Artistic Director, Chad Robinson.
