Drawing from the Collection

Learn with local artists as they lead informal basic drawing classes in the galleries. This free class is open to adults at all skill levels—just bring a sketchbook and pencils. Registration is not required, but participants should sign in at the information desk. The February session will be led by Micah Yarborough.

Drawing from the Collection for Children

Each Drawing from the Collection for Children session is led by an artist who takes participants through informal drawing exercises in relation to works in the Modern’s galleries. The February session will be led by artist Shelby Orr. Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult during the program. Bring a sketchbook and pencils. Attendance is limited, so early arrival is encouraged. A sign-up sheet is located at the information desk.

Vault Tour

Donor’s Circle level members and above

Reserved as a benefit to members at the Donor’s Circle level ($2,500) and above, the annual vault tour provides a behind-the-scenes look at collection management at the Modern, including an in-depth tour of the vault, to learn why this facet of museum stewardship is so important. 
 

Exaltations: Gilbert Galindo Concert

Exaltations, a concert showcasing the “richly rendered music” (Thought Catalogue) of Texas-native and New York-based composer, Gilbert Galindo, the beautiful and emotive music of Stanton Nelson, the “fiery, rhythmically pointed and occasionally pugilistic” (New York Times) music of Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz, and the mystical music of Arvo Pärt will be presented at the Modern featuring violinist Marina Dichenko, cellist Patrick Moore, and pianists Stanton Nelson and Syuzanna Kaszo.
